Who we are

Alison Edgar Ltd (“we”, “us”) runs alisonedgar.com. We are the data controller for the personal data collected through this site, under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it on our behalf, and your rights. It should be read alongside our Cookie Policy.

What we collect, and why

Enquiry and booking forms. When you contact us or ask about booking Alison, we collect the details you give us: typically your name, email address, organisation and the details of your event. We use them to reply to you and, if you book, to deliver the engagement. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and performing that contract.

The instant quote calculator. When you use the quote calculator we collect the event details you enter and, if you provide them, your contact details, so we can give you a quote and follow up on it. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

Live chat. If you use the chat on this site, we collect what you write and any contact details you share, to answer you and follow up. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.

Analytics and advertising. Only if you accept them via the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used and Google Ads conversion measurement to know when a visit followed one of our adverts. The lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time via the Cookie Policy page.

Correspondence. If you email or call us, we keep a record of the correspondence for as long as it is useful for dealing with you.

We do not sell personal data, run competitions through the site, take payments through the site, or use the data above for automated decision-making.

Who processes data on our behalf

Like most small businesses, we use established service providers to run the site and handle messages. The ones that touch personal data are:

• Cloudflare hosts and serves the website.
• Web3Forms relays contact and booking form submissions to our inbox.
• Jotform powers the instant quote calculator.
• Tidio provides the live chat.
• Microsoft 365 hosts our email, where enquiries end up.
• Google provides analytics and advertising measurement, only with your consent.

Each processes data only to provide its service to us, under its own security measures and data processing terms. Some of these providers process data outside the UK; where they do, transfers rely on recognised safeguards such as the UK’s adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

Enquiries and correspondence are kept for as long as they are useful for dealing with you and for a reasonable period afterwards, in case you come back to us. Booking records are kept as long as needed for contractual, accounting and legal purposes.

Security

No transmission over the internet is completely secure, but the services above use encryption in transit and we limit access to personal data to the people who need it to reply to you.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict our use of it, and to withdraw consent where consent is the basis (for example, analytics cookies). To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when the way we handle data changes, and the date at the top always shows the latest revision.
